Acres of land planned to treat with green infrastructure for stormwater management (system-level)

At an individual system level, this metric indicates the number of acres of land for which the municipality plans to treat runoff with green infrastructure, according to the goal in the Master Plan or self-reported survey results.

It is a best practice for towns to include green infrastructure in their master plans. Green infrastructure manages stormwater runoff in a way that reduces flood risk, improves water quality, and increases groundwater recharge. Having a target is a good first step for municipalities to make green infrastructure their go-to solution.
