Collectively the men and woman of this Department’s purpose is to safely operate and maintain one of Oakland’s most valuable resources, its water utility. This is accomplished through a series of daily NJDEP requirements such as water testing, sampling and reporting. Our Water System Utility includes the Operation and Maintenance of 6 production wells, 6 water storage tanks, 4 water treatment facilities, 3 booster pump stations, approximately 600 fire hydrants, thousands of line valves and over 70 miles of water main. Continuing Education also plays a vital role in this Department’s success.
