Water Bodies Where Treated Wastewater is Released: Delaware River Zone 2
The Sewer & Drainage Division treats the City’s wastewater and drainage. Separate systems are maintained to prevent mingling until treatment. After the treatment process the water is discharged into the Delaware river, 200 yards south of the Burlington Bristol Bridge. The by-product (sludge) is first dewatered, then trucked to the Burlington County compost site for final disposal. Stringent adherence to state and federal environmental regulations is maintained at all times.
