The Montgomery Township Sewer Division consists of the Director of Wastewater Operations, Laboratory Supervisor, Senior Operators, Collection System Specialist, as well as Operators and Laborers. Together they oversee operations and maintenance of six (6) advanced wastewater treatment facilities and twelve (12) sewage pumping stations as well as over 56 miles of wastewater lines. This staff is responsible with complying with very stringent New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) standards. The Township laboratory is certified with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for some of the monthly effluent compliance testing. The Sewer Utility performs most operations and maintenance internally but also relies on contractors for specific lab testing, equipment maintenance, and sewer line repairs/excavations.
