Submitted certification of their risk resiliency assessment and emergency response plan (state-level)

This measure is a regulatory requirement.

At a state level, this metric shows the percentage of drinking water systems that have submitted certification to EPA on the completion of its risk assessment and emergency response plans as required by American Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) of 2018. AWIA Section 2013 requires community (drinking) water systems serving more than 3,300 people to develop or update risk assessments and emergency response plans (ERPs) and certify to EPA its completion. A more detailed overview of AWIA and this requirement can be found here.
